Epic to offer 17 games of no cost in its this year's holiday celebration - beginning today

Each year the Epic Games Store gives away a free game a day every day from now until the new year.

This year the event is just starting and it seems it may be operating differently at first. There is Destiny 2 Legacy Collection which has just gone live The game's sequel will not be unveiled until December 19th. Things will speed up according to us, and we're expecting a daily game until the 4th of January.

It's not usual to see an Epic Game Store include the week before the game in the promotion, but it also falls in the Holiday Sale that has also started today and will run through the 10th of January.

What games are part of the 2023 Epic giveaway?

The internet goes wild each year as people try to figure out what games are expected to be released next. Epic generally provides an ambiguous hint with the images of its next game, which coupled with leakers means we can generally get an accurate idea of what's likely to be revealed the next time around.

The prize usually includes well-known works, along with independent offerings, and increases in intensity as the days pass by.

Epic Games 2023 free games leak - what's game 2?

Update 14th December

We've established that Destiny 2 is the first giveaway but the internet investigators have been focusing on figuring out what the game might be. In the past, Epic gave clues in the wrapping paper they use in each game - however there is no way to determine the clues for Destiny yet, and that's when we know the game will be revealed, which means the harder to figure out clues this year than previous.

The picture below shows the game that is next and also a potential clue. The main thing we notice if we take a closer look is a cursor that appears to be a mouse, suggesting that game 2 may be a click-and-click adventure. Have a look and decide the things you can think of. Is that an American football?

When is the Epic Games Store Holiday Sale?

The sale just started and will run until 10th January. You can claim a coupon for 33% off your purchases and each time you finish an eligible transaction, you'll be rewarded with the coupon again in place.
